I just finished reading Gaia – Yes or No ? (12-18 yr old) by Mike Farmer, and I have to say I don’t necessarily agree or disagree with the idea that Gaia exist.
Gaia is originally from Greek mythology. She is the humanoid representation of Earth, and the mother of all gods. The Gaia theory (by James Lovelock) argues that the Earth must be a “single living, self-regulating system”, since Earth seems to have evolved on its own.
This is a controversial subject that some people are going to agree with, and others are going to disagree with.
I think there’s really no way of knowing for sure whether or not the Earth is animate. It’s like religion, there will be people who believe in a god or multiple gods, and there will be others who believe that the world works on science and physics.
So, in conclusion, the world is full of mysteries that are controversial today. We might find some evidence in the future, and we might not. But isn’t that what makes the world mysterious? 🙂
